All entrepreneurs struggle with the question ‘How do you know what enough is?’ or what is good enough or what is big enough or what is enough impact.
Any form of enough can lead an entrepreneur into a dark dark cave. Once you go down that cave you may never get out. So why do entrepreneurs all struggle with what is enough?
Many reasons but I will point to 3:
1: They forgot to define success before they started. Most entrepreneurs just start piecing things together and push the ball uphill before actually taking a moment to understand what the hell is at the top of the hill. They become infatuated with their idea and live life with horse blinders on only seeing what’s 10ft in front of them. When you are constantly worried about the next 10ft and don’t take the metaview into account you’ll never know what enough is.
2: Working for the wrong cause. This point is similar to the point above except instead of taking a moment to look from a metaview and define success, entrepreneurs forget to ask WHY. You can thank Simon Sinek for this reason. The power of WHY is the holy grail for entrepreneurs, If they don’t take a moment to understand WHY they working on this project of even deeper WHY they are here in the first place then enough will never be understood. Enough is essentially the answer to your WHY.
3: Infinite game. The entrepreneur is an infinite game. Yet most entrepreneurs see their projects in black and white or are looking to win. Well, the journey of entrepreneurship is never won, nor is it lost. Once you understand that you will start to understand what enough is for you. For example, a financial enough of 10million dollars means nothing if it is accomplished easily, quickly and without struggle. That 10million dollars will become a fleeting moment of ‘oh that’s cool’ but then it won’t be enough. It won’t be enough because you didn’t struggle for it, you didn’t earn it you didn’t fight for it. Entrepreneurs enough should be measured in evolutionary leaps. The entrepreneur should have enough every day they conquer a struggle, learn from their past and pass it onto the world. Entrepreneurship is an infinite race you should always be looking to struggle and level up. If you’re not, declare yourself out of the game and stop worrying about what enough is.
Struggle on friends, struggle on!
