Ecolab's chip and data center unit grows 29% as it ties growth to AI infrastructure
Ecolab's Global High-Tech grew 29% organically on 28 July. Its 2 July release calls AI infrastructure and computing 'the fastest-growing market in the world'.
On 28 July 2026 Ecolab reported second-quarter sales of $4.4 billion, up 10%, with organic sales up 5%. Global High-Tech, its unit serving chip makers and data centers, grew 29% organically, which the release says reflects robust growth across both microelectronics and data centers. Its chief executive said closing CoolIT extends Ecolab into the rapidly growing AI infrastructure market and that Global High-Tech is approaching $1.5 billion in annualized sales. Its 2 July release calls AI infrastructure and computing 'the fastest-growing market in the world', the company's own description. We file this because the company reports hard figures and ties them to AI. How we read it: a water-technology company's chip and data center unit is growing far faster than the whole, though it is still a small part. What would change this: slower High-Tech growth or trouble integrating CoolIT. Why it matters to you: it shows AI data center demand reaching far beyond chips and servers.
What this doesn't prove
Company-reported figures and claims. Global High-Tech is a small part of Ecolab, which says it delivers $16 billion in annual sales. The 2 July CoolIT closing is background only. Ecolab's 2 July release says the approaching $1.5 billion annualized figure follows the additions of Ovivo and CoolIT. The 28 July release does not split organic from acquired sales. 'The fastest-growing market in the world' is Ecolab's own wording. No outside source is given.
