Hamamatsu raises full-year forecasts on AI data center spending

Hamamatsu raised its full-year forecasts to JPY239,000 million net sales and JPY22,000 million operating profit, citing AI data center spending.

On 6 August 2026 Hamamatsu Photonics, a Japanese sensor maker, reported nine-month net sales of JPY173,047 million, up 11.3%, and operating profit of JPY16,354 million, up 33.1%. It revised its full-year forecasts to net sales of JPY239,000 million and operating profit of JPY22,000 million, saying that against the backdrop of increased spending on AI data centers, sales and orders in industrial equipment were firm. It also cited exchange rates (Hamamatsu results).

Why we file it. A sensor maker ties its raised forecast to AI data centers.

How we read it. Steady growth, though part of the lift is exchange rates.

Why it matters to you: chip factories and AI data centers rely on light sensors.

What this doesn't prove

Company figures: forecasts are estimates and also reflect exchange rates.
