Nidec reports a 519 billion yen operating loss after restating results, and its auditor declined to give an opinion
Nidec, a Japanese motor maker, reported a ¥519 billion operating loss in restated annual figures, and its auditor declined to give an opinion.
On 30 September 2026 Nidec, a Japanese maker of motors and cooling parts, published its results for the year to 31 March 2026. Net sales were 2,708.7 billion yen, up 3.9%, and the operating result was a loss of 518,978 million yen, "due to the recording of an impairment loss of Non-financial assets ¥632,135 million". The same day Nidec said its auditor, PwC Japan, issued a disclaimer of opinion on its accounts and internal controls, citing a lack of audit evidence. A third-party committee had found improper accounting at many Nidec sites.
Why we file it. Nidec's filing names AI data centers as a growth area.
How we read it. Nidec's own figures. Its water-cooling modules and disk motors are in the small precision motor segment. Its data-center backup generators are in the segment that took a write-down. No AI-specific profit number.
Why it matters to you: AI data centers need cooling parts, and one supplier has had to restate its past results while its auditor declined to sign off.
What this doesn't prove
Nidec's own summary and auditor notice, in English translation, with segment figures as Nidec gives them. The summary is unaudited. The impairment is ¥632,135M in the summary and ¥632,221M in the auditor notice. PwC Japan said a disclaimer is not a finding that the accounts are wrong (Asahi, 1 October).
