Onto Innovation reports a record quarter and a backlog above $1 billion
Onto Innovation, which makes chip inspection tools, reported record sales and a backlog above $1 billion, linking demand to AI and memory chips.
On 6 August 2026 Onto Innovation, a US maker of tools that inspect and measure chips during manufacturing, reported record second-quarter revenue of $343.1 million, up 35.3% from a year earlier. Its chief executive tied the results to technology shifts driving next-generation AI chips, and strong demand for advanced packaging, including high-bandwidth memory, lifted sales. Backlog passed $1 billion for the first time, and on the earnings call the company put it above $1.1 billion and raised its second-half revenue growth outlook to 25% or more over the first half, up from 15% (Onto SEC filing, 6 August 2026, and call transcript).
