Oracle offers to take Point Beach nuclear costs off Wisconsin ratepayers

On 2 October 2026 Oracle said it would subscribe to a portion of Point Beach nuclear generation, expected to save utility customers about $300 million in fuel costs, subject to Wisconsin PSC approval and tied to Project Lighthouse.

Oracle put a ratepayer-protection structure on top of its Port Washington AI campus. On 2 October 2026 it said it would subscribe to a portion of Point Beach Nuclear Plant generation so Wisconsin utility customers would avoid about $300 million in rising fuel costs.

We Energies said the same day that Oracle is voluntarily taking on a portion of the expensive Point Beach power We Energies is required to purchase, with full details heading to the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin. Oracle also said it will fully fund Project Lighthouse’s energy costs. The primary releases reached here do not state how many megawatts Oracle will subscribe.

Why it sits on the AI map: a hyperscaler is writing itself into a nuclear cost stack so a large AI campus can proceed without shifting those costs onto household bills. PSC approval is still required.

Limits: not an approved order; no megawatt size in the Oracle and We Energies texts used for the claim; $300 million is expected fuel-cost savings. No thesis-row status change. Oracle stays yellow on the map because prior caution signals remain. Nothing turns red.

What would change the picture: a PSC order with term and size; a denial; or a disclosed subscription size and start date.

What this evidence does not establish

  • Subject to Wisconsin PSC approval.
  • No megawatt subscription size in the Oracle or We Energies primary texts used here.
  • Approximately $300 million is expected customer fuel-cost savings, not a closed Oracle capex line.

What to watch next

  • A PSC order with term and size.
  • A denial.
  • A disclosed subscription size and start date.
