SpaceX's AI business brings in $7.6 billion in a quarter as its computing power reaches 1.7 GW
SpaceX says its AI segment had $7.6 billion of revenue in the third quarter, up 830% on the year, and nameplate compute reached 1.7 GW by September.
SpaceX's AI side just put up a big quarter on the scoreboard. On 20 October 2026 SpaceX reported third-quarter results in a filing with the SEC, the US markets regulator. Total revenue was $14.6 billion, up 161% from a year earlier.
The AI number. SpaceX calls its AI segment Super Intelligence. It holds the former xAI, which makes a chatbot and AI models, plus Cursor, the coding tool SpaceX bought in August. That segment brought in $7.6 billion, up 195% from the June quarter and 830% from a year earlier. SpaceX says the jump came mainly from new cloud services agreements, where it rents out computing power, plus the Cursor deal and more businesses and consumers using its chatbot.
The capacity number. Nameplate compute, the power its AI data centers are built to draw, reached 1.7 GW on 30 September, up from 1.4 GW on 30 June. SpaceX says that came from the buildout of Colossus II.
How we read it. The AI segment made $431 million of operating profit after a $1,257 million loss in the June quarter. That profit already counts $1.2 billion of share-based pay tied to Cursor. The bill is still big: SpaceX spent $16.4 billion on AI equipment and buildings in the quarter, against $7.6 billion of segment revenue. A strong quarter, with spending still running ahead of sales.
Why it matters to you: when one company can rent out this much computing power, more of the AI apps you use run on its machines, and how it pays for that build shapes the whole AI season.

What this doesn't prove
These are SpaceX's own figures for July to September 2026. Cursor is counted only from 14 August and added $608 million of revenue. The segment profit includes $1.2 billion of Cursor share-based pay. Adjusted EBITDA is a non-GAAP measure. Share-price moves are excluded.
