JPMorgan markets a ~$5bn Volta AI loan at about 11% for Anthropic compute in Norway
Bloomberg says the package marks a new high in all-in yield for AI loans, funding Bitdeer Tydal capacity with Anthropic as the reported six-year customer.
On 5 October 2026 Bloomberg reported JPMorgan Chase marketing a roughly $5 billion Volta Infrastructure Holdings leveraged loan at about 11% all-in yield — a new high for AI-boom leveraged loans. Volta and JPMorgan declined to comment.
Proceeds fund a Norway data-center Volta will manage with Bitdeer. Market Briefs said the unrated deal splits into about $3.7bn for ~36,000 Nvidia GPUs and about $1.3bn cash-collateralizing a lease LC, with commitments due 14 October.
Bloomberg, citing people familiar, said Anthropic signed a six-year compute agreement at the site. Bitdeer's 4 August Tydal release confirms a 16-year lease and ~$1.3bn LC backstop with J.P. Morgan affiliates, but names only an unnamed "leading AI lab" — not Anthropic or the 11% yields.
Loan pricing alone rarely moves the map. This one is filed because Bloomberg describes the yield as a new high for AI loans, and Anthropic, the reported customer, is on the map.
Minor and against infrastructure economics: capital can still be raised, but at a very high all-in cost for an unrated borrower. Confidence medium — terms and the Anthropic role rest on anonymous sources; deal still in marketing.
What would change this: commitments closing or failing by or after 14 October; a pull, delay, downsize or reprice; or company confirmation of Anthropic's Tydal role.
What this evidence does not establish
Marketing, not closed: commitments due 14 Oct 2026; terms can flex, pull or fail. ~11% yield, tranche sizes and Anthropic's six-year role are people-familiar; Volta and JPMorgan declined comment. Bloomberg's 'new high' line is the dated record framing. Bitdeer names only a 'leading AI lab'. Unrated strip. Share-price moves excluded.
What to watch next
- Lender commitments by or after 14 Oct 2026: close, flex, downsize or pull
- Any company confirmation of Anthropic as the Tydal compute customer
- Final all-in yield / spread if the loan prices
- Change to Anthropic's reported six-year role or Bitdeer lease terms
