AirTrunk puts off its Singapore REIT IPO until early next year, reports say
Reuters, citing people familiar, and the WSJ say the Blackstone-backed data center company paused a listing of about $1.5bn. The company has not confirmed it.
AirTrunk, a big data center company backed by Blackstone, has put off a plan to list part of its business on the Singapore stock market. The Wall Street Journal reported it first on 13 October 2026, saying market swings and uncertainty over US interest rates were behind it. Reuters then reported, citing two people with direct knowledge of the matter, that the listing could raise about $1.5 billion and is now aimed for early next year. Reuters' report relies on anonymous sources, and Reuters said it could not immediately verify the WSJ's report. AirTrunk did not respond to Reuters, and Blackstone declined to comment.
What the words mean. An IPO, or initial public offering, is when a company first sells shares to the public on a stock market. A REIT, or real estate investment trust, is a kind of company that owns property, here data center buildings, and pays most of the rent it earns back to its shareholders. So AirTrunk wanted to raise money by letting the public own a slice of its buildings.
Why we file it. Building AI data centers costs huge sums, and we track who pays for that and on what terms. When a large listing gets pushed back, it suggests stock market buyers want a lower price or more certainty first. This follows Firmus pulling its Australian listing last week. AirTrunk is not on this map. Data centers stay red, and no company on the map changes color.
Why it matters to you. The money for AI tools you use comes partly from deals like this. If raising it gets harder, building new capacity can slow down or get more expensive.
How we read it. Not confirmed by the company yet, so it's an early sign, not a turn. These are anonymous reports, the company has not confirmed them, and the listing is delayed rather than cancelled.
What would change this. AirTrunk or Blackstone confirming a new date or dropping the plan. A cut in the size of the listing. Other AI data center listings in the region being delayed or pulled.
What this evidence does not establish
Based on anonymous sources cited by Reuters and on a WSJ report. AirTrunk has not confirmed the delay, and Blackstone declined to comment. No new launch date has been set, and the IPO size is an estimate from people familiar. The WSJ original is paywalled, so this relies on Reuters accounts. Share-price moves excluded.
