FormFactor and Teradyne team up on chip testing and Teradyne agrees to put $300 million

FormFactor and Teradyne will work together on testing chips for AI and memory, and Teradyne agreed to put $300 million into FormFactor.

On 12 October 2026 FormFactor, a US maker of chip-testing probes, and Teradyne, a US maker of automated test equipment, announced a broad collaboration on testing advanced chips used in high-performance computing, advanced packaging, high-bandwidth memory and silicon photonics. Teradyne agreed to make a $300 million equity funding for FormFactor. The 8-K says a securities purchase agreement signed on 6 October covers 2,234,887 new shares for aggregate cash of approximately $300.0 million, a private placement expected to close in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. The companies said the work should support rising demand for advanced computing and AI infrastructure (FormFactor SEC filing, filed 13 October 2026, with the 12 October release).

Why we file it. Two chip-test suppliers are pooling skills and money for AI-era chips.

How we read it. A positive step, but closing and results are still ahead.

Why it matters to you: every advanced AI chip must be tested before it ships.

What this doesn't prove

Company statements: closing is subject to customary conditions. AI is named as one of several uses. Share count and amount are from the 8-K, not the release.
