MongoDB's revenue grew 30% and it raised its outlook, but its slides say AI-native customers are a small share of Atlas
MongoDB said on 1 September its revenue rose 30% to $771.8 million and cited early AI momentum. Its slides say AI-native customers are a small share of Atlas.
On 1 September 2026 MongoDB reported second-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue of $771.8 million, up 30%, remaining performance obligations of $1,519.2 million, up 91%, and raised full-year revenue guidance to $2.99-3.03 billion. Its then chief executive, CJ Desai, said growth came from core enterprise workloads and early momentum with AI use cases. At its 29 September Strategy briefing, a slide on AI-native customers said they make up low single digits of Atlas revenue and that AI revenue impact is still small but growing rapidly. On 28 September MongoDB said Desai had stepped down for a role at Meta and that guidance was reaffirmed. We file this because MongoDB ties part of its growth to AI in its own words. How we read it: demand for the data platform is strong, and AI-native customers are a small share of Atlas revenue so far. What would change this: slower Atlas growth. Why it matters to you: it is a candid company read on how much AI demand is reaching database software.
What this doesn't prove
Company results release and Strategy briefing slides, read as extracted text. The slide covers AI-native customers only, and other slides give a separate, larger customer-level AI measure that was not used. CJ Desai, the 1 September speaker, stepped down on 28 September and an interim chief executive was named. Guidance is the company's.
