Soitec first-quarter revenue up 23% as Photonics-SOI sales double

Soitec reported Q1 FY2027 revenue of €113m, up 23%, and said Photonics-SOI sales for AI data center optical transceivers doubled year on year.

On 22 July 2026 Soitec, a French maker of chip wafers, reported first-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue of €113m, up 23% at constant currency and scope, above guidance of around 15%. It said the growth primarily reflects Photonics-SOI for high-speed optical transceivers in AI data centers, with sales doubling year on year, and that its Singapore 300mm fab is qualified for high-volume Photonics-SOI manufacturing with first customers. It expects second-quarter revenue to grow more than 30% year on year. It also said Photonics-SOI revenue for fiscal 2027 should more than double from slightly above $100m in fiscal 2026, assuming no material disruption in the AI market (Soitec release, Boursorama).

Why we file it. A wafer maker says AI optical parts are driving its revenue growth.

How we read it. Strong quarter, though the Photonics-SOI outlook carries the company's own AI-market assumption.

Why it matters to you: the light-based links in AI data centers start on specialist wafers like these.

What this doesn't prove

Company figures: the fiscal 2027 Photonics-SOI doubling assumes no material disruption in the AI market, per Soitec. The second-quarter growth figure is a company forecast.
