TSMC raises its 2026 sales outlook and says demand stays strong

TSMC now expects 2026 sales to grow about 44%, and the company says demand stays strong while it keeps its $60 billion to $64 billion factory budget.

On 15 October 2026 TSMC, the Taiwanese company that manufactures chips designed by other firms, reported third-quarter revenue of 46.72 billion US dollars. That was above the 44.6 to 45.8 billion range it had guided. It expects fourth-quarter revenue of 52.3 to 54.3 billion US dollars and now sees 2026 revenue growing about 44% in US dollars. In July it had forecast slightly above 40%.

A quick explainer: TSMC is a foundry, meaning it makes chips for other companies instead of selling its own. It builds chips for NVIDIA and other AI companies, including AI accelerators, the processors that train and run AI models.

At its investor conference, CEO C.C. Wei said demand for TSMC's advanced chip-making technology is expected to stay strong, according to Focus Taiwan (CNA). TSMC kept its 2026 spending budget for factories and tools at 60 to 64 billion US dollars, and CNA reports it will spend more from 2026 to 2028 than in the previous three years.

Why we file it. TSMC sees chip orders before the chips exist, so when it raises its outlook and says demand stays strong, that tells us TSMC still sees demand holding up.

How we read it. TSMC turns green on the map. One caution: TSMC kept its spending budget rather than raising it, and its third-quarter figures are not yet approved by its board.

Why it matters to you: much of the AI you use runs on chips TSMC makes, and TSMC says demand stays strong and is keeping its factory spending plan at 60 to 64 billion US dollars.

What would change this: TSMC cutting its outlook, AI customers pushing out orders, or new export or tariff rules on chips made in Taiwan.

What this evidence does not establish

TSMC raised its outlook but gave no new AI-specific number. The 2026 spending budget was kept, not raised, and 2026 to 2028 spending was not sized. Third-quarter figures are not yet approved by TSMC's board. Share-price moves are not part of this signal.

What to watch next

  • Whether fourth-quarter revenue lands in the 52.3 to 54.3 billion US dollar range TSMC guided
  • TSMC's 2027 spending budget, usually given in January
  • Monthly revenue reports for October and November
