CoreWeave closes a $2.6 billion customer-backed loan for AI infrastructure
CoreWeave said on 10 August it closed a $2.6 billion term loan backed by customer contracts, with a five-year maturity, to expand its AI cloud.
On 10 August 2026 CoreWeave said it closed a $2.6 billion delayed-draw term loan to support the expansion of its AI cloud platform and committed customer deployments. The loan matures in about five years while the customer contracts behind it average about three years, is rated Ba2 by Moody's and BB+ by Fitch, and is priced at SOFR plus 5.50%. CoreWeave calls the longer maturity a sign of "lender confidence in long-term GPU demand". CoreWeave says it has secured more than $30 billion of debt and equity capital this year. We file this because it is a company-confirmed financing with hard figures. How we read it: lenders will fund AI capacity against customer contracts, but the loan outlasts the contracts, so renewals matter. The company reads the gap as lender confidence, and the renewal-risk reading is ours. What would change this: customers not renewing at the end of their terms. Why it matters to you: it shows how the AI build-out outside the largest firms is being paid for with borrowed money.
What this doesn't prove
Company release. The loan is secured on customer contracts averaging about three years against a five-year maturity, so repayment after the contracts end depends on renewals or re-leasing. The company frames the gap as lender confidence in long-term GPU demand. The renewal-risk reading is ours. The $30 billion year-to-date figure mixes debt and equity and is the company's own.
