Sivers Semiconductors adds laser capacity for AI datacenters as its loss widens
Sivers said AI datacenters' need for laser capacity drives a move to hybrid manufacturing. Q2 net sales were SEK 53.8 m, operating loss SEK 116.9 m.
On 27 August 2026 Sivers Semiconductors, a Swedish chip maker, said in its Q2 interim report that it is moving from a fab-lite to a hybrid manufacturing model, driven by AI datacenters' insatiable need for fresh laser capacity. It said Jabil moves to beta builds in Q4 2026, with production orders anticipated in H1 2027 for ramp in H2 2027. Q2 net sales were SEK 53.8 m (61.4 a year earlier), the operating loss was SEK 116.9 m (40.3) and cash flow from operating activities was SEK -70.0 m (-20.1). The report records a directed share issue of about SEK 700 m before fees in Q2, and the company said it is using a portion of its recent capital raise to expand its Glasgow facility (Sivers interim report).
Why we file it. A laser maker says AI datacenters need more laser supply.
How we read it. Progress on AI parts, but sales fell and losses grew.
Why it matters to you: lasers power AI data center links.
What this doesn't prove
Company figures: Sivers is loss-making (operating cash flow SEK -70.0 m in Q2). It raised about SEK 700 m in a Q2 share issue. Ramp dates are company expectations.
