Apptronik is the clearest example of the split emerging in humanoids between companies that build their own brain and companies that buy one: it runs Google DeepMind's Gemini Robotics models on its hardware. It has also contracted manufacturing to Jabil rather than building its own factory, which is how a hardware startup reaches volume without owning the plant.
Manufacturers and logistics operators pay to deploy Apollo in their operations; the company has also raised very large amounts of venture capital.
