Planet is where the space sector and the AI economy actually touch. It supplies the raw imagery that AI models are trained on and run against, it has integrated Anthropic's Claude into its analysis products, and it is the company physically building Google's first orbital-compute prototypes. Most of its revenue, however, is still imagery subscriptions, not AI.
Governments, defense agencies and commercial customers pay recurring subscriptions for satellite imagery and geospatial data products; Google is paying it to build spacecraft.
